Quoter/Perl
The Perl rewrite of Quoter, written to put random quotes on a homepage.
2001Perl
This is the perl version of the quoter :). To be honest I wrote this one to cover the need of my homepage for random quotes. OK, I know all about the program 'fortune' but I don't care. I just wanted to make it myself :). This program is under the GNU Public License. Current version is 0.04.
The archive contains the following files:
quoter.pl - The main program :) qconf.sh - A small shell script (bash) that builds a config file *.quo - The quote files quoter.conf - The config file example.tpl - Example template file
Configuration
There are five configuration parameters in the quoter.pl file.
$CONFIG_FILE - filename of the quote configuration file $QUOTE_MARK - see template file format $EXTRA_HTML - string appended between each quote line $APPEND_EXTRA_HTML - 0 do not append, 1 append $DEBUG - 0 no debug output, 1 debug output
The format of the quoter config file is:
FILE=[quote_filename] @@ QUO_NUMBER=[number_of_quotes] @@ HTML_FILE=[template]
The quote collections originally shipped with the program 'fortune'.
